In a scanned PDF, a table may be stored as a page image rather than selectable text. Copying it into Excel can leave you with one long line or uneven columns. TableFix opens the selected PDF page as an image, reads the table and lets you repair the layout before exporting.
Convert a scanned PDF table, one page at a time
- Open the PDF. Choose a PDF up to 20 MB in the converter. The file is opened in your browser, and the page image stays on your device.
- Choose the right page. Use the Previous PDF page and Next PDF page controls to find the table. TableFix does not automatically combine tables across a whole document.
- Select the table area. Crop around the table with Select table area. Leave out page numbers, captions and footnotes unless they belong in your spreadsheet.
- Extract the rows. Keep Printed table selected for printed English text and click Extract table. Choose Handwritten bill for an English handwritten table and review every value.
- Adjust and check. Move the blue dividers to match the source columns, change Columns if necessary and click Apply. Compare digits, decimal points and headings with the original.
- Save the page result. Click Prepare Excel, then Save Excel, or prepare and save CSV. Download this result before moving to another PDF page, because changing the source page replaces the current table.
Keep headings and data in the right rows
A PDF page may include a title above the table and notes below it. OCR sees readable text rather than knowing which lines belong in a report. A close crop reduces extra rows. If an unwanted row remains, select a cell in that row and use Delete selected row.
Turn on First row is a header only when the first row contains column names. A page title or a receipt date should not become the header for the item table. If the first data row is missing, inspect the crop boundary before trying another reading.
Working with several PDF pages
Export each table separately. You can then copy the reviewed rows into a single workbook using your spreadsheet app. When a table continues on the next page, check whether the repeated heading row should be removed and whether the columns follow the same order. This combining step is manual; the converter does not merge or reconcile page results.
When extraction is incomplete
- Small or faded text: try a clearer scan or a close crop. Enlarging a low-quality scan does not restore missing detail.
- Merged cells or multiple tables: read one table or one section at a time, then arrange the result in Excel.
- Incorrect column placement: align the dividers and apply them before editing individual values.
- A PDF cannot open: use a screenshot of the table page as a JPG or PNG and follow the photo table guide.
Excel exports can retain review notes for uncertain cells. CSV exports contain the values without those notes, so finish checking the source before using the CSV elsewhere.
