Handwritten Bill to Excel: Read, Check and Download

Read English handwriting, check unclear amounts against the original and correct the spreadsheet before export.

Free to use. No signup. Your document stays on your device.

A handwritten receipt or shop bill may contain names, quantities and amounts that you need in a spreadsheet. TableFix can read English handwriting on your device and place the recognized text in editable cells. Treat this as a first draft: handwriting, faded ink and crossed-out amounts can be misread or missed.

Read a handwritten bill in TableFix

  1. Take a clear, upright photo. Put the bill on a flat surface and avoid shadows across the writing. Include the whole table without cutting off the amount column.
  2. Select Handwritten bill. Open the free converter, choose this reading mode, then choose the photo. A ChatGPT subscription and API key are not required.
  3. Select the rows you need. Use Select table area to crop around the relevant part of the bill. Include the date or total only if you want them in the spreadsheet. They may appear as separate text rows.
  4. Click Read bill. Reader files are downloaded on first use. Recognition runs on your device, and the photo is not sent to an OCR server.
  5. Check the layout and values. Change the column count or move the blue dividers, then click Apply. Compare every recognized value with the bill, correct the text and fill any missing cells.
  6. Export the reviewed table. Choose Prepare Excel or Prepare CSV, then use the Save link. Download before closing the page.

Why every handwritten value needs review

Two people may write the same digit very differently. A decimal point can look like a mark on the paper, and a product name can merge into the next column. TableFix highlights every non-empty recognized handwritten cell in amber. This is a reminder to compare it with the source, rather than a claim about how accurate that cell is.

Select a cell to highlight its source area in the photo. Correct the value if it is wrong, or use mark checked if you have confirmed it. Also examine empty cells: the reader cannot highlight a word it failed to detect.

Overwritten amounts, totals and missing quantities

If an amount is crossed out and another is written beside it, recognition may return the old value, the new value or both. Read the original and decide which value belongs in your spreadsheet. TableFix does not reliably decide which handwriting is a correction, or replace an unclear amount by calculating a total.

The same applies to dates and quantities. A date is copied as recognized text and is not automatically validated. If a quantity is missing, fill it from the original when it is readable; do not assume it is one. Check the final total separately instead of using it as proof that every item was read correctly.

When to use another reading mode

Use Printed table for a typed invoice or a printed receipt arranged in columns. The handwriting reader is intended for English handwriting; Sinhala, Tamil and mixed-language bills are not supported reliably. If a photo remains unclear after cropping, a sharper photo or manual correction may be faster than repeatedly reading the same image.

If the layout changes after you have corrected cells, applying new dividers rebuilds the original recognized text. Arrange the columns first, then finish your review. For more layout examples, see photo table to Excel.
